Women of Note were so proud to perform at Double Standards – an evening of jazz and joy!, the Mary Clarke Statue Appeal fundraising concert on Wed 4 March at St George’s, Kemptown alongside local feminist post-punk band Siren (who performed their “Song for Mary” written for and about Mary Clarke) and jazz greats Claire Martin, OBE and Liane Carroll.
Compered by Zoe Lyons with Simon Fanshawe and the Deputy Lieutenant of East Sussex Juliet Smith speaking powerfully and passionately about Mary Clarke, her life and her tragic death in the pursuit of women’s right to vote.
So touched that the organisers gave us each a little posy of flowers in suffragette colours!
